Should NASA fund asteroid studies? This has been a long-running debate on this question that has left NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) in utter shambles. I believe that NASA should fund asteroid studies for many reasons such as gaining money, to help save the planet and prevent danger, and to explore space and explore the possibility of living on another planet. Although other people believe that we should not fund asteroid studies because it would cause a big gap in government funds that would create a catastrophe and make for a lot more trouble than it is worth. To those people who think that clearly do not realize that it is well worth the price and is most definitely worth the trouble of solving a quick problem with …show more content…
A video by the name of Mining Asteroids Planetary Resources stated, ¨Resources from asteroids will add tens of billions of dollars annually to the global GDP.¨ GDP (gross domestic product). The quote from Mining Asteroids Planetary Resources helped prove the point that if NASA decided to increase the funds for asteroid studies then they would soon make way more money than they originally spent which would open up the budget for other things that would greatly increase the value and need for NASA. Along with finding valuable resources on asteroids, they could also get a higher budget from the government for getting resources from asteroids because what they do makes so much money making them a more reliable investment in. Data from ¨NASA’s 2013 Budget Puts Brakes On Planet Probes¨ shows that out of the 3.7 trillion dollar budget only 17.7 billion dollars were spent on NASA. This shows that if NASA makes more money than they will get more of the available funding because they are a safe
