Roger was a member of five American League (AL) pennant winning Yankees teams, winning the World Series twice. He was also a member of two NL pennant winning St. Louis Cardinals teams, winning the championship in 1967. He retired after two seasons with St. Louis with totals of 1,325 hits, 826 runs, 850 RBI, 275 homers, and a career 0.260 batting average. Roger Maris is not in the Hall of Fame, but the 1961 Topps Roger Maris 2 Baseball Card is still sought after by collectors and fans.
Rob Neyer’s article “Say it ain't so ... for Joe and the Hall” wrote about reinstatement of Joe Jackson in the MLB. People still doubt Kenesaw Landdis’s decision that is lifetime ban from the MLB because he takes the circumstances into considerations. The decision based on trial in 1919, but it was unnatural. On the other hand, Rob discussed that the introduction to the MLB Hall of Fame and reinstatements in the MLB are different issue.
Although the illustrious athlete had many achievements, he is still unqualified to be in the Hall of Fame. To have representation in the Hall of fame a player must qualify all the standards; including to be off the ineligible list. In agreement, Pete Rose was among the greatest baseball players in the history of baseball; however he should adhere to the regulations. He is not in the Hall of Fame because he did not satisfy the MLB Hall of Fame requirements and he also broke the MLB rule of
Pete Rose: The Fall of a Star Athlete Often referred to by his nickname, “Charlie Hustle,” Pete Rose was one of the greatest players in the history of the Major League Baseball Association. Throughout his professional career, Rose played for the Cincinnati Reds, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Montreal Expos as a stellar athlete. He also set a batting record that is still unbroken to this day (“Peter Rose Biography”). However, Pete Rose, a modern day tragic hero, fell in disgrace from stardom because of his limitless desire to gamble, resulting in his permanent ineligibility to be placed in one of baseball’s most important monuments, the Hall of Fame. His weakness for gambling led to his downfall and, like most tragic heroes, Rose could not see his own faults until it was too late.
Jack Seurkamp Mrs. Perry English 10 CP 20 January 2023 Why The Greatest Deserves Greater If you were the most outstanding player in your sport, wouldn’t you want to be recognized for your talents? Barry Bonds has been retired from Major League Baseball for 15 years, yet, the Hall of Fame has not recognized him for his exceptional skills and many awards, the reason why he has stayed out of Cooperstown for so long is that he was caught using performance-enhancing drugs, making him stronger and fitter to play the game. Regardless of whether or not he used steroids, Barry Bonds deserves to be in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, because of how great of a player he indeed was, and how much he accomplished in the game. Barry Bonds was
Should Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame? It all went down hill when he started gambling. But his major league debut started on April 8, 1963. After exceeding the rookie expectations in 1963 he won the ROY (Rookie of the Year) award.
Joe Dimaggio has the longest hitting streak ever, he was an all-star all 13 of his seasons, was or is he still the best baseball player the world has ever seen? Joe was an amazing baseball player during his 13 year career (Kennedy). Joe’s famous hitting streak took place in 1941 (Kennedy). Joe was the 8th born of 9 children ("The Official Site of Joe DiMaggio"). Dimaggio is great not only because of his hitting streak, but he was a nice man (Kennedy). He had an amazing baseball career(Kennedy).
Greg Maddux, was he the best pitcher of his generation? Greg Maddux off the baseball diamond may look like a high school history teacher to some, but it was his work on the mound that earned him the nickname the professor. While Greg Maddux may not exactly fit what some say the best pitcher in baseball is supposed to look like it’s his statistics that say for the better part of his career he was. We’ve all been outmatched at some point in our lives; for some it was mentally, and for others it was physically. Greg Maddux is no exception to this because unlike Randy Johnson who was 6 foot 10 inches tall and left handed or Roger Clemens who was 6 foot 4 inches tall and weighed around 250 pounds Greg was physically outmatched everyday when he showed up to the ballpark.
Therefore, the bottom line for being inducted into the Hall of Fame would be how well each player performed on the field during their career. When the baseball commissioner in 1989 Bart Giamatti banned Pete Rose from baseball after an investigation claiming that he was guilty of betting on baseball, what gave Giamatti the authority to ban Rose from the Hall of Fame? Although Pete Rose allegedly gambled on baseball, his overall performance in the game is something that should always be praised and remembered, which is why he should be admitted into the Cooperstown Hall of
We know this is never going to happen except for in a perfect world. Pete Rose is one of the greatest players to ever step foot on a baseball field. He never had the intention of harming his career by gambling and is very regretful of doing so. The whole subject of Pete Rose getting into the Hall of Fame is very opinionated but needs to be looked at from multiple perspectives not just that he broke rule 21D and here is his consequence.
The players that get inducted are the ones that get remembered forever. My argument, Pete Rose should be allowed induction into the Hall of Fame. Peter Edward “Pete” Rose learned
Pete Rose In the Hall of Fame As any average baseball follower knows the all time hits leader for Major League Baseball, Pete Rose, is banned from baseball due to gambling charges in the 1980s that led to him also being banned from Cooperstown, also known as, The Hall of Fame. The argument I’m bringing forward is not a rare one or an educated one. It is very hard to justify not letting him when baseball players who are proven steroid users are in the Hall, see Jose Conseco, and that’s the only one that is proven, there is a 100% chance that there are more.
Throughout his career he was an inspiration to many but many were saddened that he choose to do the wrong thing and when he did this he let most of his fan base down. Many think he is hall of fame worthy but his scandal might prevent
If you have taken a performance enhancing drug you shouldn’t be allowed into the hall of fame, because it takes away from the accomplishments of others who felt they didn’t need the drugs to succeed in whatever sport they were involved in. Athletes who used performance enhancing drugs do not belong in the hall of fame. What are performance enhancing drugs? Performance enhancing drugs are substances such as steroids, monkey testosterone, federally banned alcohol, and etc. These drugs help you perform in an exceptional way when you are hurt, wanted to relax during a long season, or simply just perform better.

He had the most years in leading a league in home runs, most total bases in a season, and the highest slugging % for a season. Ruth was a good man who loved the sport and always put in all he had. He hit 714 home runs, and this mark stood
