Poetry is the literature created from the soul. The idea behind poetry feeds from the emotion and the creativity given by the author. For some, Poetry is understood as the desire for no written rules or room for boundaries. This reflection will present an analysis of the various techniques and interventions which develops a poem. The reflection will also compare and critic the works of Charles Olson (1997) and Jill Jones (2009).

Poetry is an important part of literature which conveys an author 's ideas across to the reader through the use of descriptive language. Poetry helps an author to express their inner emotions and often incorporates various poetic devices which enriches the text. Poetry gives the reader a different perspective and when read closely, can give the audience a look into the authors imagination. Likewise, poetic devices enhance the writing and can drastically change the mood of the poem, as well as, how the reader interprets the poem. Poetic devices are important in literature because they help to convey a message, add spontaneity to a poem, and give the reader a strong visual.
"Introduction to Poetry" by Billy Collins and "How to Read Poetry" by Gail Hemmeter both convey their viewpoint of understanding poetry. However, Gail Hemmeter's "How to Read Poetry" is more effective at conveying his viewpoint of understanding poetry. This is because he give a list of things to do in order to help understand poetry and he explains the different aspects of poetry and what they mean. In this essay I will be arguing why Gail Hemmeter's "How to Read Poetry" better conveys his viewpoint of understanding poetry.
The article, as aforementioned, is basically a palette of evidence trying to prove why poetry is such a crude and raw form of language and expression, and why it still matters.
It can turn ordinary phrases into a new, deepened and more meaningful message. It makes the author 's writing better and gives the reader and new look on the main message. It enhances the poem and evokes the reader which overall, makes the poem enjoyable. It allows the author to convey the desired message through metaphorical and symbolic imagery rather than just words and language.
El Jones: The importance of spoken word poetry Spoken word poetry is a medium used to spread the concerns of generally disadvantaged groups in a non-structured widely received form. Many civil rights speeches use this style of poetry due to the ability it has to reach such a vast audience within a limited time and on poor finances. El Jones uses this style of poetry in her work to create a message that can reach a broad audience of varying social classes. In El Jones "I know what you see," there is an allusion to many political and economic troubles present to residents living within Halifax's Africville.
I firmly believe that poetry speaks to the soul. It feeds the need we have for intellectual reading and makes our brain work toward a deeper meaning. So, what is it that makes a good poem? What makes a poem better than another? In my opinion, it not only depends how relatable a poem is but how well the poetic elements are used to give the poem character.
The poems on the internet were sometimes complex, and almost impossible to understand at times. This has led me to believe that I still have much to learn about poetry, and I might take some things
Poetry is a piece of literature where the author shares his ideas of a subject or person. He is attempting to allow the reader an understanding of his feelings regarding this subject. Most of the time poetry can be very pleasing to the ear; however, at times it can be written in a manner that is odd. Some poetry is written in a way that the reader can “hear”, “feel”, “see” or “taste” elements in the poem. Some poems may rhyme while others may not need to in order to convey the message.
My feelings and views have changed on poetry, since reading these poems. I didn’t realize there were different types of poetry writings such as concrete poetry, which uses words as well as varying type sizes and fonts. These types of poems give the readers a visual form to the poem. From the reading material in Unit 3, I learned how to read and understand a poem, such as “Red Wheelbarrow”, written by William Carlos Williams, in 1923. When I first read this poem, I just read it.
Poetry is something that should be indulged in
Poetry is a very unique type of writing. Poetry allows people to express their emotions in a way they feel comfortable. Every poem has a meaning to it, whether it is talking about food, interest, or a moment in their lives. Readers often mistake the poet as the narrator, although in many cases this is true. Many poets are the narrators and the poems are about their personal life.
Why are music classes mandatory subjects in schools? They really aren’t as beneficial as people believe they are. Music classes shouldn’t be required because they’re replaceable, unnecessary, and sometimes harmful to students who don’t want to take them. All of these cancel out any “benefits” that mandatory music classes have. Electives are fine, but as mandatory classes, they’re either worthless or harmful.
“In life one is always balancing”, balance is seen in some form in all aspects of life. It said true that balance is a reaction, without balance there could be chaos or turmoil much like in The World Is Too Much with Us by William Wordsworth. However unbalanced nature gives way to challenge but restores balance by giving triumph this is shown in Diving into the Wreck by Adrian Rich, Still I Rise as well as I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. Balance is a force stronger within nature rather than in people, it persists much like in Still I Rise by Maya Angelou but also in Lines Written in Early Spring by William Wordsworth also aspects of Ode on A Grecian Urn by John Keats explores the issue of one action has a reaction maintaining balance within it consequently bringing joy at the same time as sorrow.
