Is it time to get rid of the American tradition of school sports? In the article, “Yes, It’s Time to Scale Back” the author Amanda Ripley expresses how sports are harmful to the students and school funds. However, in the article, “No Sports Are More Important than Ever” by Tim O’ Shei discusses how school sports benefit students. The article, “10 Reasons Why High School Sports Benefit Students” by Grace Chen also backs up why school sports are important. School sports are a reason for failing grades; on the other hand, there are many positive benefits to having them in schools.
When everybody argues enough and then schools decides to keep sports their should be a fee of that parents have to pay for buses, and players have to pay for half of their uniform, and then the school pays for the other half. Don’t you think? The problem is that schools think that keeping sports is a financial burden and that sports bring down students academics. Schools should not get rid of sports because school sports help improve academics, sports can bring a community together, and sports can reveal character. Schools should not get rid of sports because sport programs help test and academics.
In today 's world schools spend too much money on after school sports and might get rid of them. Although many students think getting rid of after school sport is not necessary; schools save much more money now and a more percentage of students pass their classes because the schools use the money for educational purposes. Therefore, districts should get rid of after school sports because they are too expensive, students grades are dropping, and kids are not paying enough attention in class.
Did you know athletes in high school have 11% higher graduation rates and have up to 40 percent higher test scores that non athletes. Sports in high school are important and give kids more of a chance at succeeding in life and they should stay in high school to help kids find what they are best at. Sports can also help kids gain confidence in what they do a science study shows and it can help them push themselves to be better people. Being active can also improve your grades and help you learn how to use teamwork in situations.
A major reason is that sports keep kids healthy. R. Dawn Comstock, an investigator at the Center for Injury Research and Policy stated “We have an epidemic of obesity in this country, and sports is one of the ways for kids to incorporate exercise in their lives” (qtd. in Perkel 2) . Most kids don’t get active anymore.
The stress can get so intense, it feels paralyzing. That’s why it is important than ever for schools to invest in their athletic programs,” states the sports article “Should Schools get rid of Sports.” Schools should keep their sports programs because they help improve academics, help improve mental and emotional health, and improves social skills like being on a team. Schools should not get rid of their sports programs because they help with student’s academics.
Sports should be gotten rid of because it will save schools more money for school related activities like cleaning up around the school. One reason schools should get rid of sports is it will save schools lots more money. The Superintendent Ernest Singleton canceled all sports and realized he could save 150,000 dollars in one year. It proves my point because it does save more money for the schools.
The school districts should fund school sports, because it allows kids to keep kids healthy, socially active, physically active, and maintain good grades. People argue that school sports cause injuries, but usually students are injured due to things they do outside of school. Kids in sports have athetic confidence, and are more active on a social level. Kids that are more socially active are usually the ones that play sports, and have more athletic confidence. Kids that aren't very socially active are usually the ones that don't play sports, or have any confidence athletically.
Sport in high school shouldn’t be taken away because it allow new students to make friends a lot easier. If we didn’t have sports in schools then there wouldn’t be professional sports anymore because the kids won’t be able to practice and not every kid has money to buy a ball or net and basketball hoop. It helps the student’s grades in classes because if they have low grades in one class they can’t play the sport so they try their hardest to raise the grade so they can play the sport. This is why I think they shouldn’t take away sports in high schools.
A school is best when all of the students, teachers, and other faculty can all relate to one common group or goal, and in this case sports can help give all of these groups someone to root for. People tend to become happier and even more motivated to be better when they have a sports team to follow. So, if the athletic activities were removed then we would have a large drop in the morale of the school. Not only that, but with the morale drop we would also
There has long been the debate about whether kids should be allowed to participate in competitive sports. Most people against say that sports make kids get severely injured, which is true, but only if the kid is unprotected and not in a safe environment, which is not the case with sports these days. In fact, sports promote more of a healthy lifestyle. Sports also promote life skills and help kids later in life Sports should be for all ages and kids. The first reason kids should have competitive sports is that sports promote life skills at young ages.
Should school sports be Mandatory Do you think that school sports should be mandatory because a lot of people think that they should not be mandatory because some kids aren't very good athletes. but however many kids who do not like to play sports are lazy and they just like to be at home eating junk food playing video games and other things that kids do on there own time. However, school sports should be mandatory because if every kid in the whole school joined any sport they would be in good shape every time and they would also be very healthy and they won't have to be struggling about them being overweight and and a lot of people think that if you join a sport we will be wasting your money
Playing sports is something that children in America look forward to, especially after a challenging day at school. Not only is it a way to meet new people and learn life lessons, but it is also a way to relieve stress. Students look forward to making new friends and developing relationships with their coaches. Sports should be fair and enjoyable. Sadly, that is not what is happening on a daily basis.
All schools should have school supported sports. School sports are more healthful than hurtful in many ways. All schools that don't have sports are missing out on some benefits. Some with the school's weathyness, some with the students, and some with teachers. But for some reason they want to get rid of them.
The preceding information shows that sports can be good for kids, but they can also have a negative outcome that can include low grade averages, and lack of needed time and money.
