Should Self Driving Cars Be Aloud

Thousands of people die from vehicle related accidents. With self driving cars it can stop or continue accidents because we don’t know enough about the technology. There are many good reasons to have a self driving car but we don't have enough knowledge to have them be fully safe. Even though a self driving car could react quicker self driving cars should not be allowed because the car would choose the passengers safety or the pedestrian safety not both, they should also not be allowed because the people’s choices could affect it, and no safety test will make sure the car is safe enough.
First off I don’t think self driving cars should be aloud is because if a person walks out into the road you don’t know if the car will choose the persons safety or the pedestrians safety. As seen in the document, “Driverless cars will face moral dilemmas” by …show more content…

As seen in the story “The Ethics of Autonomous Cars” Patrick Lin explained how the self driving car could be bad because of people's choices “If robot cars faithfully follow laws and regulations, then they might refuse to drive in auto-mode if a tire is under-inflated or a headlight is broken, even in the daytime when it’s not needed”.
Although self driving cars could react quicker than a human could I still believe that self driving cars should not be aloud is because there is not enough tests to confirm that the car will be safe enough. As seen in the story “Humans must trust robotic cars before they can share the road with them” it was explained that there are not enough tests to make it safe enough “No single test can figure out the safety of self-driving cars, says Steven Shladover.” The proof that we don’t have enough tests is here as a self driving car crashes, “A Tesla Sedan S using its driver-assist Autopilot technology failed to avoid the side of a tractor-trailer looming ahead. The driver died in the resulting
