Rebuilding South Western History One Tool at a Time Like a painter without a brush, or a builder without a hammer, life can be a struggle without tools. In the same way, students need a backpack to carry their learning materials with them throughout the day. In fact, without backpacks, everyday learning could be very difficult. Backpacks are an indispensable learning tool, because they enable students to stay organized, and be punctual, without posing a safety threat. Students at South Western High School should have the right to carry backpacks with them throughout the school day. First, backpacks benefit learning by enabling students to stay organized. Many times students have been admonished for arriving to class ill-prepared to learn, because they did not have the necessary course materials. Since backpacks have multiple pockets and compartments, students can more easily transport essential learning materials, like binders, pencils, textbooks and papers. Students can also organize their supplies by subjects and have easy access to homework and assignments during class, as well as at home. In addition, the zipper and velcro fasteners prevent the perennial muddle of schoolwork from falling out of the bag, thereby reducing the chances of students forgetting or misplacing assignments or losing pencils. …show more content…

Students will not have to squander the teacher's class time by coming in late, or requesting for locker passes. In addition, without the congestion that comes from students crowded around their lockers, students will be able to travel swiftly to class.
