Teenagers in the United States are often not given the same rights and freedom as an adult will. According to the fact that teenagers cannot vote, own a gun, or even drink alcohol, in proportion to most state laws. Teenagerss do not have as much freedom as an adult does, for the reason that if teenagers had freedom, they will not be aware of the responsibilities they have to face. Teenagers are not capable of doing as they feel, for the reason that they can commit wrongdoings due to the lack of maturity, wrong nurturing, or killing someone in self-defense. In other cases killing someone can be unintentionally like self-defense. On 2004 a case of a sixteen year old girl named, Cyntoia Brown, was tried as an adult for killing a Nashville man. Brown was forced into prostitution and to take drugs. Brown said that the Nashville man had payed to sleep with her and as soon as they entered the room, he mistreated her; therefore, Brown used her gun as self-defense. Brown was then tried as an adult for committing a felony. The system is corrupt, it enables rapists, but throws a young victim’s life away. Brown was repeatedly drugged and rapped by different men making Brown defend herself for something she did not want to do. Brown should had not be tried as an adult because her intentions were not to kill the man, but to put her nightmare at a stop. To conclude, teenagers should not be tried as adults due for the reason that some are not mature enough to understand the adult ways, like voting.
