The internet can be a dark terrible place, should students be exposed to all its horrors? In fact, compared to adults, children under the age of 18 are 51 times more likely to have their identities stolen. The Renfrew County District School Board should continue to censor its student's internet use.
To begin with, The Renfrew County District School Board should continue to censor what its students are able to view on the internet because children are particularly vulnerable to sexual predators, such as pedophiles, on the Internet. According to www.kidguard.com The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC-USA) reports “15 percent of children between ages 10 and 17 have been contacted via the internet for sexual intent.” With these numbers, this shows that kids having unlimited access to the internet can or will lead to them being involved in an illegal sexual activity.

For example, if a student clicks on an advertisement that says “you won $100,000! To claim click link” the students would probably click it thinking it's real, however, it is a fake website; how can you blame the innocent student for clicking the appetizing ad? image how awful that student will feel when they don't get a prize. Even worse is that the website contains a virus and it causes the computer to be unusable. Clearly, the students access to the internet should be monitored and censored so they cannot access fake
