How the decision on educating twins together or separately in different classrooms helps raise the achievement of children.
It is important that all children can develop and sustain a belief that all learners can achieve success. Teds (2017) believes children are genetically different which strengths the suggestion that a personalised educational system is required for every child. Taking this statement into consideration, leads me to my chosen topic of defining what is the best educational structure for multiple birth children in terms of receiving their highest level of achievement. The significant issue in this debate is whether twins should be taught in different or same classrooms and being an auntie of twin boys, who are currently in separate Year 1 classes, I can see from a primary source the impact the same is having on the children’s educational …show more content…

The first research study relating to this topic was carried out by Koch 1966, who suggested that twins who were placed in separate classrooms were more advanced in speech and IQ than twins who were placed in the same classroom. (Koch, 1966). However, later in 1970 Leeper and Skipper disagreed arguing, “It appears that the placement of twins in the same or separate classroom seems to have little effect on their achievement, social adjustment and acceptance” (Leeper and Skipper p.15,1970). From my personal understanding, it’s defining whether the existence or absence of the co-twin is a major issue in the first instance.
