I have always been intrequied by great minds and the philosophies which made them so famous. Take Sigmund Freud, who hasn’t heard of him? I learned about Freud in High School, he believed that man created God, essentially to cope with the fear of death and have a cosmic umpire or “father figure”, if you will, to turn to in times of trouble. I believe Freud got it wrong, if mankind had it their way, God would have never existed. This way there could be no moral or ethical wrong doing, nothing to answer for, no consequences for your actions. I believe that God instilled or even programed us with moral and ethical guidelines, a conscience, the knowledge of right vs. wrong. The majority of famous philosophers were once avid theologians, Nietzsche (Lutheran), Freud (Jewish) and Darwin (Unitarian/Anglican). They all have three things in common, former belief in God, frustration with religion and the rejection of God. Studies have suggested that many of the most prominent atheists or agnostic believers, where at some point tenacious theologians. For whatever the reason they lost their faith, in my opinion and using Freud’s own theories, I would suggest they had “Daddy issues”, what I mean by that is they had contempt and anger for God and that that contempt and anger was so powerful that it led them to betray God’s existence, this way God was no longer needed in their …show more content…

Take the multitude of religions that exist, every general faith hosts several divisions of the primary faith, it’s difficult to keep track of. Leading us to the questions, who is right, which religion should I follow, does God even exist? This is an ambiguously complex concept, so much so that it inevitably turns most people away from the acceptance of God. I myself struggled with these questions throughout my life, searching for the truth, or a proof that God exists. In that search, I had been so focused on finding one detail, one shred of proof that I was missing all the signs. God is everywhere, look around and you will find the essence of God in the tinniest details.
