Introduction Good morning/afternoon students and teachers, my name is Thittina Atnaf, and I am going to speak about the issue with silenced voices. We are neither fair to others nor loyal to ourselves and our ideals if we keep mute in the face of injustice. William Faulkner once said "Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty, truth, and compassion against injustice, lying, and greed. If everyone in the world did this, it would transform the world." Malala Yousafzai's statement, "We realise the importance of our voices only when we are silenced," is true, because one's voice can only be heard when one is able to talk freely about their experiences. He was a talented runner but is not allowed to perse his dreams because he isn’t a member of the Hitler Youth. In Chapter 4 is says “He would never play for a team. He would never become a professional." He was told this and it crushed the poor boy and his dreams to become a runner.
