Colonial and contemporary America have many similarities and differences. Differences can be obvious because our country has advanced so drastically over the different generations, but the similarities should not go unnoticed. Although there are many, major comparisons to be made between these two eras are their music and modes of transportation. Music has evolved greatly in America over the years. Colonial America’s music was played with instruments like the harpsichord, violin, fiddle, hammered dulcimer, tabor pipe, drum, and recorder. Today, music is played with very different instruments. Examples of contemporary instruments are guitars, keyboards, bowed strings, percussion instruments, string instruments, woodwind, and brass instruments.
