Both Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln were important political figures, and they still are. It is important to remember them for what they have done for the Unites States of America. They both have greatly impacted our lives today in creating diversity for younger generations. Even they had their own friendly relationship with each other. But it was not very friendly when first starting off when they met.
Both Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X went through many hardships throughout their lives. These two historical figures used reading and writing as an outlet to escape their unpleasant lives. Similarly neither of these men went to a traditional school or class to learn these monumental skills. Instead they each were motivated and worked hard to teach themselves how to read and write. Although both men used the same hobby as an outlet, how they learned to read and write differ completely.
Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglass. Both were grand figures in history, noted for their contributions to the end of slavery, although both came from radically different backgrounds. For instance, both their childhoods were incredibly different. Frederick Douglass was born into slavery, and was also illiterate due to the strict rules prohibiting slaves from becoming educated. He spent much time as a child learning to read from the poor white children, whom he gave food in return for their teachings.
Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were heroic men who fought for freedom for all people. Many people were influenced by Lincoln and Douglass, Lincoln was able to speak about how slavery was horrid and Douglass was able to tell people about how it was to be a slave. “I felt like one who had escaped a den of hungry lions.” (SB p. 71) Douglass gave an image to people who hadn’t seen the evil of slavery for themselves. People were able to look up to Lincoln as a leader, as a captain who could lead them through the tough times of civil war.
Frederick Douglas and Abhram Lincoln are both important people of history. They were both very different men but still had their similarities, they were parallel . They were two of the greatest men in the century who were self made. These two were gifted writers and speakers. Still after many similarities these two were still different men, not just because one was born free and white while the other was black and enslaved, they both made a big impact in history.

Douglass made his writing with facts and no emotional descriptions, because readers doubted a former slave could be intelligent and write without bias. Twain wrote with honesty and moral superiority. Both authors use details and imagery to create ethos, because the details are evidence to the story’s credibility.
Abraham Lincoln was poor and illiterate as a child but eventually became educated with hard work and dedication. They fought for what they knew was right and motivated other people. These two people had the same idea in making the world a better place.
Besides the similarities in understanding the importance of freedom, Frederick Douglass and Nat Turner has a lot of differences in using education to escape from slavery and gain freedom. In fact, Frederick Douglass used education as a mental resistance. To him, freedom means freedom in his mind. Resisting the ignorance of his master Hugh Auld is a great illustrated for this point.
