All religions are fundamentally the same because they share a number of important similarities. While some people may argue that all religions are not fundamentally the same, the fact is that religions share numerous similarities that are crucial to their advancement. Due to these similarities, religions are more alike than they are different. For this reason, all religions are fundamentally the same.
Humans desire to better understand their environment. Even with our scientific advances and secular social constructs, humans continue to seek ultimate understanding through religious experiences. Across human existence, people have questioned the origin of mankind and have wanted to understand their individual relationship to it. For example, Christianity, Judiasm, and Islam all share the same creation story in which God created the world in 7 days. (Genesis 1; 1-31) Buddhist cosmology categorizes everything into either air, fire, water, earth, or space as part of their rationale for world existence. Lastly, in Hinduism, Brahma is the creator of the universe, who made it all out of his own self. Additionally, some religions are more inclined to include scientific learning into their religious understanding of the world. In fact, the Baha’i believe that science and religion are intertwined and are in harmony.
