Throughout life, people reinvent themselves constantly, whether the change is through different hobbies, styles, or even environments. People can reinvent themselves because of an unspoken motivation or simply because it is what their minds desire and feel must be accomplished. In The Color Purple and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, both protagonists face changes that end with good resolutions. The characters reinventing themselves proved that living a coarse life can result in happiness or misery. In Alice Walker's "The Color Purple", Celie is introduced as a weak and ugly girl compared to her sister, Netty, who is a beauty queen and intelligent. Celie heeds Shug's advice and help and begins her own business and becomes more successful than anyone in her town and also gets reunited with her sister. Celie's change represents a strong woman's mindset along with a few trials and tribulations and that shows that it is okay to work from the ground up. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a compelling story about a man who transforms into a monster-like creature and destroys his own lab. Before this mystery was discovered, no one in the town knew why this lab was destroyed, nor did they know the reason for so many terrors in the town. Mr. Hyde would attack people in alleys, torment children, and even women and men all around town, however, Dr. Jekyll was a trusted doctor that was adored by everyone in the town. One night, someone discovered Dr. Jekyll's gut wretching transformation into Mr. Hyde and was appalled about what he saw.When the man told the police and others in town, denial and rage was engulfed in Dr.Jekyll as he tried to tell the man he was hallucinating and that there isn't anyone of that
