The businessmen overthrew Liliuokalani who was monarchy of Hawaii at the time, when Liliuokalani was dethroned Hawaii had to elect a new monarchy. The new monarchy was Dole, he was the one that applied for the annexation of Hawaii. The American colonists controlled a majority of Hawaii’s economy.
Hawaii has given the opportunity to the U.S. government to make a substantial amount of profit, which is an incredible reason for bringing annexation to Hawaii. During this time period, sugar was a very high selling product that everyone demanded for and Hawaii had sugar plantations across the land. For example, the Mckinley Tariff was great influential law towards the American economy. Unlike the Reciprocity Treaty, the McKinley Tariff exceedingly taxed goods that were imported to other foreign countries that were from Hawaii. However, importing sugar or goods to America did not have a high price that came along with it.

Businessmen like Dole held imperialistic values to have unrestricted access to United States markets to bypass tariffs, like the McKinley Tariff passed in 1890 that raised the average duty on imports to almost fifty percent. In his letters, Minister Stevens credits Manifest Destiny as a reason why Hawaii should inevitably fall into the hands of the United States. Hawaii was a strategic location for the United States, as it housed a US Naval Base built on Pearl Harbor which provided access to Asia, a climate for developing sugar and pineapple plantations and a workforce that could easily be exploited for profit. Many believe that Hawaiians even needed the United States to intervene and Westernize it, part of the white savior mentality that was
Imperialism was a controversial idea that a nation can extend its power outward through means of diplomatic or military force. This often results in a shift of power from one major force currently in control to another. The people of that nation under control conflict may also experience wars, rebellions, or cultural destruction. Looking at some of these events, we see some positives and negatives of imperialistic action taken by the United States, and how it affected the nations imperialized by the United States. For starters, let’s look at Hawaii’s annexation.
Killing everyone in its way. The location of these two places can be examined. First of all, both of these places are not located near any fault lines. Both are located in the middle of a plate. Hawaii is located in the middle of the Pacific plate.
American imperialism: the result of capitalism, business, and trade; the result of fear, competition with other countries, and the quest for furthering an economy—proven with the acquisition of Hawaii and the removal of its ruler, Queen Liliuokalani. Why and how did that happen, and in which ways did it impact the world? The United States removed Hawaii’s queen out of imperialism, an avarice for control of the rich natural resources, and the strategic military standpoint Hawaii provided them with. This changed Hawaii to a tourist base and sugarcane phenomenon, boosting the United States’s economy, but also caused a decline in the population of the Native Hawaiians. The possession of Hawaii also led to the United States’s involvement in World
Hammerhead sharks rarely attack humans. Only 17 atacked have happened in the last 450 years but none of the attacks were serious enough to be fatal. The animal i'm going to be comparing the hammerhead to is a bottlenose dolphin. The dolphin doesn't chew its food it just goes down the throat like a snakes. I think that the dolphin would be a better survival than the hammerhead because they live in a lot more places than the hammerhead.
For example, Oahu has no active volcanoes, however the Big Island has two active volcanoes ready to erupt. The Big Island also has many beautiful green and black sand beaches, unfortunately Oahu does not contain either of these beaches. The Big Island and Oahu have many similarities; however, they also have several differences. One similarity is that both volcanoes had hot spots.
Imperialism, the act of expanding the United States’ political and economical influence over the world, was one of the U.S.’s priorities during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The United States had also began becoming overall different than they were before. Before the civil war had happened the U.S. had kept to themselves, not really participating in the outside affairs that were going on around them. After the civil war, the U.S.’s economy grew stronger in ways such as influencing policies such as the Open Door policy with China, the U.S.’s military grew stronger enough to the point where they won the Spanish-American war in 1898, and lastly politically influenced the Philippines, Cuba and many more territories. Hawaii, was an opportunity for the United States and many other countries to expand their trade with Asia.
The Better Polynesian Island The first place most American vacationers think of when wanting to travel is to go to Hawaii rather than Samoa. Explorers want to relax on the Hawaiian beach, get some sun, and eat lots of delicious food. What most Americans don’t realize is that the U.S owns another beautiful island that has all that Hawaii offers, and more, Samoa. Hawaii is often seen as the ultimate paradise, but there’s a reason why American Samoa is the heart of Polynesia.
The United State’s annexation of Hawaii in 1898 led to the gradual destruction of the Hawaiian culture and the almost-extinction of native-born Hawaiians. The majority of the Hawaiian natives opposed the annexation of Hawaii and wanted to maintain their sovereignty. Although the Japanese could have taken over the Hawaiian islands if the United States had not, the annexation of Hawaii by the U.S. was unjustified because of the treatment of the monarchy and natives, the infringement of the natives’ self-established culture and government, and the natives’ overwhelming opposition to the U.S’s involvement in Hawaii. From 1795 to 1874, the Kamehameha Dynasty ruled over the kingdom of the Hawaiian islands. Up until the death of Kamehameha III, the U.S. had stayed out of interfering with the islands.
