As a future educator, it is very important to start thinking about the particular school setting in which I would like to work. The first step in choosing a school setting to work at is figuring out rather I would like to work in the public or private school sector. Before starting this research assignment, I had an idea that I in the future want to work in the public school setting. Therefore, I have chosen to focus my research on the Public Magnet and Charter school. A Magnet school is a public school that has a specialized curriculum or theme (MSA, n.d). Charter schools under their Charters often also offer special educational interests within the visual and performing arts, college prep, Montessori curriculum, and other special interests (NAPCS, 2018). With the charter and magnet school both offering a special curriculum to its students, it allows students to focus on what they are interested in and attracts a broad variety of students to their schools.
