When the following speeches were given, they were brought about by the fight for African American rights. Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X had made speeches about the rights for employment for the African Americans, in addition to giving ways of the change to happen. Matrin Luther King Jr was so important because of his enactment towards the nonviolence resistance for African Americans equal rights. Just as Malcolm X is similarly important for being a leader in the Civil rights movement. Both speakers are trying to construct employment for the African Americans. Eventhough both speeches have the same goals, both still have many different ways to get the change that they want. Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X desire was to create employment for African Americans. Both of these speakers are after more employment for African Americans, although they don't share the exact tactics they still want the same goal. While Malcolm X is trying the approach of attempting to get the African Americans to buy their own businesses instead. One of Martin Luther King Jr's tactics is boycotting the businesses, while Malcolm X specifically stated he did not want to use that tactic and those similar to it. As stated in his speech, " ...They won't have to constantly be involved in picketing and boycotting other people in communities in order to get a job." On the other hand, Martin Luther King Jr stated, " Along with the march as a weapon for change in our nonviolence arsenal must be listed the boycott." This is clearly proving that Martin Luther King Jr wanted to use the boycott to get his goal to succeed, whereas Malcolm X did not want to use the boycott to succeed in getting employment for the African
