Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox Churches share a common general history. Several difference, however, remain. Some of these differences would lead to a thousand year schism between the two denominations.

The two churches share a rich tradition of ceremony. Mass was a celebration and chance to show their veneration before God.
