Have you ever come face to face with a huge great white shark? I bet you haven’t! In the short story, The Truth about Sharks by Joan Bauer. Beth is falsely accused for stealing a pair of jeans when she was really just trying to find an outfit for her Uncle Al’s birthday party. She starts as a nervous girl trying to prove herself innocent.
Hammerhead sharks are carnivore because they eat meat much as fish species. They will eat fish to regain their energy because they use most of it swimming. They also use energy by using their sense of smell that allows them to detect blood. When a shark reaches a point when they can’t use any more energy, they will go deep into the ocean and stay there. Their preys won’t spot them as easily when they are deep in the ocean.
The book Sharks In The Time of Saviors by Kawai Strong Washburn is written with each chapter being a different first person perspective within multiple of the important characters. We hear the story through each of their own eyes. Each major character gets to express their feelings to the reader in a way that no one else in the story would understand. The chapters get traded off between Malia, Nainoa, Kaui, Dean, and the last chapter of the book Augie.
They are also covered in dense blubber. This blubber helps them stay warm in cold sea levels. There are two adaptations that these dolphins have made to help their need for energy. Dense
In Blackfish, one of the most critically acclaimed documentaries of 2013, director Gabriela Cowperthwaite asserts that the inhumane practice of keeping killer whales in captivity is not the right thing to do. They are animals and they like to be open and free. Keeping killer whales in captivity is dangerous to the animals themselves, it makes them more aggressive, and also has the potential to harm and even kill the humans who work with them. Orcas are simply not meant for confinement. They are very calm and happy when they are in the ocean.
Sharks rely on their fins to swim and allow water to
The documentary “Blackfish” focused on killer whales in captivity, specifically Tilikum; a wild orca who was caught and exposed to captivity and its environment which eventually lead him to violently turn on his trainers at SeaWorld and even took some of their lives. This documentary examines how the difference from living in sea life to captivity can cause these whales and orcas to live up to their names. Blackfish discusses and argues how life in captivity for these whales is cruel and dangerous, not only for the whales but for their trainers as well. The information throughout this documentary was all painful to watch in my view, but it also had a positive approach.
Imagine, a 22.5 feet long killer whale that weighs 12,000 pounds, slammed and dragged a person in the water who only weighed 125 pounds. The image is gruesome but that’s what happened to SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau. A respected 40 year old who fought hard to stay alive against the largest orca in captivity. Accordingly to witnesses Tili (short for Tilikium), the Orca went wild during the Dine with Shamu Show, then attacked and killed Dawn. The event shocked everyone because Orcas are usually very friendly but Dawn Brancheau was the third victim of Tilikium.
Are you afraid of sharks? Because I am terrified of them. Weirdly enough this short story has nothing to do with sharks. This short story is called The Truth about Sharks written by Joan Bauer. It was an early morning when Beth got woken up by her alarm.
The invertebrates that form the gray whales primary prey are restricted to shallow water environments, but global sea-level changes during the Pleistocene eliminated or reduced this critical habitat multiple times. Because the fossil record of gray whales is coincident with the onset of Northern Hemisphere glaciation, gray whales survived these massive changes by adapting their feeding habits. When continental glaciers locked up vast quantities of the earth 's water, ocean levels dropped up to 400 feet. This transformed what is now the sea bottom into wind-scoured steppes. At the height of the ice age, most of the modern gray whale food source would have been high and dry, and yet, the whales survived.
The Hammerhead shark is a fascinating creature, who are not like most other Sharks in the ocean. Ever wondered why their head is shaped weird? What is the purpose of it? How long do they migrate for? Description
The Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is one of the largest of the Cetaceans. They are fairly well known, even outside of the scientific community. They are identifiable by their dark grey dorsal color, white underbellies, very long pectoral flippers and by their habits of breaching and raising their tales above the water before diving. Their range expands tropical, temperate, and sub polar waters all around the world. They migrate in search of breading grounds and feeding grounds.
Albert Einstein once assured, “If I were to remain silent, I’d be guilty of complicity” Never remain silent, never become guilty of something you have never done. In effect, this shows how you have to stand up taller when knocked down. Become yourself and feel the power you can demand. Joan Bauer’s realistic fiction novel, The Truth About Sharks, introduces us to such a character. The protagonist, Beth needed an outfit for a party later that evening.

Through the various assessments and tests that were done, I have learned a lot about myself. Some I already knew and some I just found out. Starting off with values, I never really thought about how my values affected me and which ones I value the most. After doing the test, I have become aware of how I would feel if someone did not honor my values. Moving on with emotional intelligence, I have affirmed that I have above average emotional intelligence.
