Although both gangs, “The Greasers” and “The Socs” both have company, they have increasing problems. Both “The Greasers” and “The Socs” deal with many problems most of their problems are the same. Even though, “The Socs” are drinking alcohol in a different area it doesn’t mean “The Greasers” aren’t doing the same. In the novel, “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, the gangs of the story, “The Socs” and “The Greasers” both deal with problems including money, free time, and territory. Both gangs, “The Greasers” and “The Socs”, deal with a lot of the same problems. He is unemployed and still prone to minor thefts and vandalism.” Most of the problems caused in “The Outsiders” were due to trying to look and/or act cool just by drinking in front of their friends and/or public. On page 20 and 22 it shows Dally trying to impress Cherry and Marcia but gets pushed away due to his drunken talk. It is said on page 20, paragraph 3 “We all had money to get in- it only cost a quarter if you were in a car- but Dally hated to do things the legal way. He liked to show that he didn’t care whether there was a law or not. He went around trying to break laws. We went to the rows of seats in front of the concession stand to sit down. Nobody else was there except except two girls who was sitting in front. Dally eyed them coolly, then walked down the aisle and sat right behind them. Another major problem “The Greasers” and “The Socs” deal with is money. “The Greasers” deal with too little money while “The Socs” deal with too much money. Both of these problems are possible and reasonable. The way “The Greasers” deal with too little money can affect the way they live. They could have a bad structured shelter that could and live in.The way “The Socs” can deal with too much money is that they could have too much free time. Since “The Socs” have too much free time they could go anywhere they like and do anything they like that includes “The Greasers”. On page 15 paragraph 11 it is said “ Still, lots of times I wondered what other girls were like. The girls who were bright-eyed and had their dresses a decent length and acted as if they’d like to spit on us a given chance. Some were afraid of us, and remembering Dallas Winston, I didn’t blame them. But most looked at us like we were dirt- gave us some kind of look that the Socs did when they came by in their Mustangs and Corvairs and yelled “Grease!” at
