Penobscot History: The Life and Traditions of the Red Man Joseph Nicolar wrote The Life and Traditions of the Red Man in 1892 as a summarization of his people and used their stories to educate others in the ways of their culture. Nicolar was a political leader and elder of the Penobscot tribe in Maine in the late 1800s. He collected the stories passed down from his ancestors and published them in a book for all to read. Like many other natives the Penobscots also had their own story of creation. This was one of the tales that composed Nicolar’s book, the story of Klose-kur-beh, the first man on earth or “the man from nothing” and the first mother's sacrifice.

In a person’s life, many situations transpire and make them feel pride over one’s self. Readers can see this in the short story,” The Scarlet Ibis” by James Hurst. “In his spare time Hurst wrote short stories and plays, but The Scarlet Ibis was the only work of his that become famous “(gradesaver.com)”. In the short story, “The Scarlet Ibis” James Hurst uses red to symbolize warning, death, and guilt to show the change the older brother goes through, as he takes care of Doodle. The first instance when red is used, is to express warning and the older brother’s attitude, is at Doodle’s birth.
Now what is opposite of fear and hope in each evidence. In the Diary of Anne Frank, Anne might not have all hope. She can have fear from the whole household not getting along and her separating from Margot and Mom. Also the fear of being found is one. The child would be hooked in by the simplicity of the drawings as it is reflective of their own skill level. The title alone is enough to capture the attention of both an adult and child. “The Day the Crayons Quit” would strike curiosity in any passerby by posing the question, “Why DID the crayons quit?” The humor of the story makes this an entertaining read for both children and adults. This is the kind of story that parents would enjoy reading to their kids day after day.
Loneliness, isolation, and lack of attention forced people to sink into depression. " The Yellow Wallpaper," by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is the story about the relationship between a repressive husbands whom pushes his wife from depression into insanity. " A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner is the story about a woman who is overpoweringly influenced by her dad, and she begins to deteriorate emotionally after his death. The two stories are about how people can influence the deterioration of one 's mental state.
Independence means not being influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself. Gaining independence is a huge part in growing up. All parents want is for their child to someday gain their independence and grow up but the different ways they chose to parent their child can come off as more negative or positive but either way they still love them. In the poem, “The Red Hat”, by Rachel Hadas, and an excerpt adapted from Black Boy, by Richard Wright, both of the mothers want their sons to gain their independence but you can see a vast of similarities and differences based on the way they react to their child growing up and the way they prepare their child to grow up.
The main characters of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne and Bruno, can be contrastive of each other. However, they are alike in their thoughts, actions, morals, and the fact that they are on opposite sides of the same story. Both children are born around the time of World War II and face the challenges associated with the war. In addition, the book and the play themselves are set apart in the way they are brought to life.
In the passage “What To Bring” by Naisha Jackson the immigrants chose to bring certain items with them to the US. They chose to bring things that, even though they are starting a new life in the US, help them remember their old life. “... The two most common kinds of immigrants’ belongings are religious items and photographs” (Jackson 10). This piece of evidence shows how they want to keep in touch with their roots and keep memories of their old life.

He suddenly discovers that he is, in fact, a wizard and is to be thought at the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is where he finds out that he is famous in the wizarding community, for defeating Voldamort as a baby.
It’s not until I began preschool that I remember my first book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do you See? was read to me.
