Simon expressed multiple times he doesn't think the beast is real like when the littluns made first made up the ‘beastie’ “As if it wasn't a good island… As if...the beastie, the beastie or the snake-thing, was real. …”pg 52. Simon also goes to another level of showing he's not savage like the rest of them and still civilized when he reveals he thinks that they could possibly be the beast. "
All the british choir boys had started off, pure and innocent looking for a way to survive on the island that they crashed landed on. They ended becoming savage, hunting, and killing to get their point across. But, devolution of boys’ society was highly affected by Simon, Jack, and Roger for they had lost their innocence while stuck upon the island. Throughout the Lord of the Flies Simon at first was the boy that understood or was the problem solver out of the group.
In the book Lord of the Flies, Simon becomes noticeably different from the rest of the schoolboys on the island. Simon is a shy individual and doesn’t speak often. He, unlike the other boys, enjoys being alone and independent while on the island. Although he comes across as one of the younger boys, he is one of the more disciplined, caring and mature; he understands what has to be done in order for them to survive and to keep peace between them all. Simon is the only boy on the island who sticks up for Piggy in countless situations throughout the book making him stand out in a positive way.
(Golding 74). Here we see some strong, emotional dialect to describe Jack's frustration, but Simon does not give way. Simon may seem stubborn, but his stubbornness is what makes him a leader although he has no followers Simon has great leadership qualities. Not eating the meat while the others are and Jack is getting angry, shows Simon guiding himself down his own path
Ralph responds by calling Simon crazy, but “Simon shook his head violently till the coarse black hair flew backwards and forwards across his face. ‘No, I’m not. I just think you’ll get back all right. ’”(Golding 111). Simon defends himself when Ralph calls him batty, not wanting Ralph to dislike him.
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, many young boys became stranded on a deserted island without any grownups. In the beginning, Ralph, the leader, warns everyone about the importance of having a fire with smoke in order for ships to find them. Not everyone agrees with his philosophy though; some think finding food is a more urgent matter. These boys create their own tribe led by a young boy named Jack. Through the development of Jack Merridew’s characterization, the author shows that humans will succumb to their animalistic ways when they do not have a set government.
Sometimes, the only beast a person should be afraid of is the beast inside of themselves. It takes real strength to not let the beast overcome and take control. It takes even more strength for them to be willing to sacrifice themselves for others. The Christ-figure in literature is the spiritual character that risks his or her life for others and often reflects on an actual prophet. In the Lord Of The Flies, Simon gained knowledge of the beast on the island and knew the consequence if he told anyone, and he still risked his life.
Throughout the novel, Golding uses Simon to represent the innocence and goodness of the boys before becoming uncivilized. During the novel, Simon continued to represent the goodness within the boys. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, Simon kept to himself and was
There’s a lot of symbolism in The Lord of the Flies, and Simon represents the religious aspect in life, for example; morals. Which means, like I stated above, that Simon tries to keep others in a good or for better words civilized society. Simon is eager and he pretends to be less than what he is and what I mean by that is he takes less credit than he should. He isn’t what one would describe as direct, but when things need to be taken care of and fixed he won’t let it slide. He’ll be upfront about it and take care of what needs to be done.
I’m part of you?’” (Golding 143). The manifestation of Simon’s inescapable evil directly speaks to him, and the two converse to a degree. Considering the pig’s head is speaking to him in his mind; the recognition of inner malice is truly profound. Simon’s consideration of walking away from the head is halted when the head exclaims “‘This is ridiculous.
And I’m the Beast. . . . Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill! . . . You knew, didn’t you? I’m part of you? Close, close, close!
Simon is insightful of what and where the beast is, which also makes him the most powerful in some ways, and definitely the wisest. Simon was always thinking of new ways to keep the peace between the boys. When

One of his characteristic traits simon exhibits is selflessness. Simons selflessness can be seen when the lord of the flies threatens him. It tells him that something terrible with happen if he tells the boys That is no beast. The beast was just made up in their imagination. but he does it anyways
In Lord of the flies, many of the characters fit into the prompt. But the character that fits the description of an outward existence which conforms, the inward life which questions was Simon. Although he didn’t intend to stir up trouble, his thoughts about the beast did just that. In Lord of the flies, Simon is described to act in a saint-like manner.
