In the novel “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding the ultimate one responsible for the destruction of the island is Jack. In the novel Golding has wrote about how a group of british boys crashed on a plane and landed on a island where there are no adults,just little british boys stranded on a island .In the beginning one of the boys Ralph was the responsible leader where he knew what to do an how to manage. But of course there was this one cureles jealous boy that wanted to be a leader,the one in charge. Because of how ruthless and savage Jack was he took the fear that the boys had within them and used it against them to make them join his tribe which started the destruction of the island.
There’s a lot of symbolism in The Lord of the Flies, and Simon represents the religious aspect in life, for example; morals. Which means, like I stated above, that Simon tries to keep others in a good or for better words civilized society. Simon is eager and he pretends to be less than what he is and what I mean by that is he takes less credit than he should. He isn’t what one would describe as direct, but when things need to be taken care of and fixed he won’t let it slide. He’ll be upfront about it and take care of what needs to be done.
Ralph is immediately admired as a leader. Everyone but Jack and his friends vote for Ralph over Jack. Those that voted for Ralph did so because of all his proven leadership qualities. He is confident, anything but shy, strong, and he is clear that he will do anything to get them rescued including doing a lot of the dirty work himself such as hunting the beast and building all of the shelters.
Simon’s allegorical representation of religion and a Christ figure allows him to inherit morality, unlike any of the other boys on the island, sees where the evil has been originated when finding out the true Beast on the island, the symbol of the Lord of the Flies, and when Simon is beaten and torn apart by the boys which indicates how the evil is present in everyone’s soul. Simon is the only character in Lord of the Flies that feeds the boys positivity to the society they try to make on the island. He gives the tries to keep everyone happy and safe on the island they have crashed on. Even though Simon is the first major character to die, throughout the novel he was able to reassure the boys that they will be rescued just like how religion gives you

Simon is described as a “skinny, vivid little boy.” He has thick black hair as well as bright eyes, characteristics for a Christ-like figure.

SImon is the good samaritan on the island. He is the only one on the island who sees all the bad things that the so-called “leaders” are doing. In chapter 9, it says, “Simon saw a humped thing suddenly sit up on the top and look down at him. He hid his face, and toiled on. The flies had found the figure too.

Also simons traits That he exhibits is selfless and caring and some believe that he represents Jesus in the book. Jesus, as most people know him is a good all around person he is selfless and in the Big book it says he died for our sins simon died for their sins (Metaphorically).
Out of the four main characters, Simon could be considered the most mysterious. His personality remained unrevealed throughout the whole book. His behavior, changing drastically by the end of the book, failed to display his thoughts and feelings. Simon is defined by the way the island itself changed him, and if he were to write the book, the societal outlook and structure of the island would be seen completely different. Simon’s hidden past and vague behavior gave him a unique disposition.
Simon is the hero figure of this novel. He resembles a prophet of sorts, and is on an entirely different plane compared to Jack and Ralph. He mastered the balance between savagery and civilization, as he knows those are equal parts of human nature, and will always be conjoined and intertwined. He represents human goodness in its purest form. He is truly one with nature.
In the biblical text of Matthew, the messiah Jesus Christ is betrayed by his disciple Judas, and sentenced to crucifixion by the Roman people. Jesus acts as a martyr, for his death lead to the forgiveness of the sin in all people. In Lord of the Flies, Simon is perceived originally as a Christ-type figure, whose spiritual presence is so strong it is seen by the boys as “batty”. Although readers may originally believe Simon is also a martyr, his vulgar “resurrection” and and exacerbation of the boys violence indicates he does not fit the christ-figure archetype. During chapter 8, Simon speaks to the pig head left by Jack and his tribe, and realises the true beast is the evil within man.
There are various allegories and symbolism in many pieces of literature, and Lord of The Flies is no exception. This is something disagreed upon by many readers of this book. However, as you look deeper into the context and the characters, it is pretty easy to see that one of the main characters, named “Simon”, can be looked at as an allegory for Jesus due to three distinguishing attributes. These attributes are the way he is wise and spiritual, the way he is treated by anyone who is becoming evil in the book, and the fact he can be seen as the most moral and virtuous person on the island.
Simon, who is always helping out Ralph and tries to show the evil which is corrupting all of the children demonstrates how people are initially good in the book Lord of The Flies by William Golding. For instance, in the meetings, Simon attempts to show his concern when, “ (He) mumble(s) confusedly, ’I don’t believe in the beast’ ‘’ (Golding 72). Even if Simon is not a great speaker puts an effort to explain how the beast might be just in their heads. Also, means that he has not been influenced because unlike most of the children did not lose his innocence. May be looked passed but, consequently, is what makes his death unnoticed by Jack’s savages.
In 1934, Twenty years prior to Lord of The Flies being published a dark time in history took place. Adolf Hitler a well-known oligarch took control of Germany after its recession in 1933. He later annihilated over 6 million Jews in a range of 6 and half years. Years later an author named William Golding wrote an extensively known novel called Lord of the Flies. Mentioned in the book is a character named Jack, who appears to be motivated by Adolf Hitler.
