The men’s luxury fashion industry evolved, and began to experiment with accessorizing, edgy pops of color, and high heeled boots. Men began to stray away from formal suits for casual occasions, and experimented with bright bold shirts underneath sleek suits. Color pop accessories sometimes followed. The flamboyant look was in, signalled by wider trousers and lapels, like those belonging to the blue checked Tommy Nutter. Tommy Nutter was a famous tailor of Great Britain, who reinvented the Savile Row suit in the 60’s (The Guardian UK: Tommy Nutter). In the Outsiders, by S.E Hinton tells of two social classes, the Greasers and the Socs. What these groups wore, and the fashion the used to express themselves laid a big foundation to who they were. What you choose to wear, and how you choose to wear it can actually be a bigger decision than what you may think. Everyone’s looking, always, the bigger question is… how do you want them to see you? What image do you want to put out into the world? In the Outsiders, the Greasers dressed dirtier, and were hair grease, and the overall image presents itself as dangerous, poor, and rough. The Socs dress in high class attire, and are always looking there best in public. Is Fashion all that matters?
