Lastly, children who are raised in a single parent household may be at risk of depression. There are times where a single parent household may be more stressful than a home with two active parents. This can cause a negative effect on their ability to concentrate and find enjoyment in activities they once liked. It can cause stress that may lead to problems with behavior, mood, sleep, appetite, and academic or social functioning. Most children become silent and do not open up to the parents about what is wrong and what is bothering them.
