491 Words2 Pages
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Gawain faces many temptations from Bertilak's wife while staying in her husband's castle. These temptations are directly related with the hunt that Bertilak is going on in the outside world. The first example of this is when Bertilak hunts and kills the deer outside of the castle while inside the castle Sir Gawain faces his first temptation from Bertilak's wife. A very important thing to keep in mind is the how deers are very shy and are ready to flee if they sense any fear. The first day inside the castle Sir Gawain is approached by Bertilak’s wife while he is still in bed. Sir Gawain decides to act like he is asleep to avoid this situation. The correlation between the deer and Sir Gawain is obvious.
