One of the best forms of art would have to be music. It allows everyone to connect in some way by expressing how they feel about life. Music has evolved over the years to have many different genres. The music is typically performed by single people and even groups of people. My favorite group of musicians formed back in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. Skillet has become an inspirational Christian Rock and Roll group over the last two decades. I believe Skillet deserves to be in Dr. Sewell’s rock and roll hall of fame because of their long history, changing music, songs that can be analyzed, and contributions to their genre. Skillet originally formed with John Cooper and Ken Steorts. A pastor that the two-shared convinced John and Ken to form a band after their respective bands split up. They named their band skillet because the difference between their musical background had the similarities to throwing things into a skillet to see what could be made (Jones). Billboard has had a rock and roll song chart measuring top rock and roll songs since 1981. Skillet has been on the chart multiple time including the very top (Rutherford). This shows the influence on the rock and roll genre with Skillet being able to make the top of the lists when their songs try to spread faith. I also see this as changing the way Christian music works because more and more people are listening to rock and roll that ties into religion. Skillet has greatly impacted the way that Christian music is made. I have noticed that the current generation listens to a great deal of rock and roll. Many Christian groups have started to add some rock into their music to bring the same appeal that Skillet does. While many Christian rock and roll groups have emerged since Skillet, Skillet is still referred to as the number one Christian rock and roll group. I agree with the people who say that Skillet belongs on
