The use of slavery in the South was well renowned. The plantations around South were worked day and night by the thousands of slaves brought in to, work what the white men did not have time to work. After reading numerous textbook pages over the years, I’ve come to notice that the Southerners used several propaganda options in their battle against those trying to abolish slavery. As we all know the slave economy was prosperous, due to the fact of the constant import of Africans-Americans. With the slave economy growing, there was something else growing in the midst, the Economy of the South. Slaves worked the plantation from sun up to sun down gathering hundreds of pounds of tobacco, cotton, and rice. If the Abolitionist were to eradicate slavery, Economist of the South feared the worst. If you were to do away with slavery, Where would their economy go? Would there no longer be any income for the crops?

This seems what today, we would call “child’s play”, but this is all they could accomplish without their masters getting suspicious of their resistance.That was just a few of their acts, this next act was a little risky on their part. Slaves would “run-away”, but they would only go short distance. This plan was only able to slow production down and develop bargaining negotiations with the owners. Lastly, the biggest resistance of them all, running away entirely and escaping to the Underground Railroad. If the word slavery was ever mentioned, the first thing you think of is the Underground Railroad ; we were all taught at least one thing about slavery with in our adolescent
