Date: 11/13/2017

Purpose of today’s memo I am requesting for a development of an Energy Dashboard at our SJSU Engineering Building while proposing $80,000 grant to the Engineering department for students to develop an energy dashboard under the direction of a professor of their choice.

Discussion:
The usage of property sectors faces several pressures relating to energy including rising energy cost and maintaining tenant satisfaction. More than 37% of the building in the bay area are emission by greenhouse gas affection and 10% of them including the commercial and educational institutions. Energy Dashboard will help the provider to …show more content…

Data analytical from smart energy reading will not just have an impact in residential areas but will also benefit education institutions and commercial properties. Smart Energy will help data analytics to reveal information about the consumer's behavior, like for example the data surveys being pool together by power distributing companies will help them define how much customers are using their energy and determine its cost in specific areas depending on energy’s demand and supply provided by electrical firms. SJSU is not the first one to adopt the smart energy technology, UC Davis has been using it since 2016. According to CEED UC Davis website, their dashboard measures EUI (Energy use intensity = annual energy use (kBtu)/building square footage (ft^2)) which is a mathematical formula to motorized building’s yearly energy usage divided by its square footage (CEEP UC Davis). Distributing power companies don’t have to depend on the workforce to analyze the company supply data; smart energy will automatically record the data to the processing system which helps the management system of improving the demand of supply in the engineering
