The Greatest Sport in the World Did you know that there are 250 million soccer players worldwide, and that it’s the most played sport in the world? This shows just how many people across the world play soccer, and how many hearts the sport has touched. Although many people may believe soccer is a crummy sport that no one watches, soccer is the greatest sport in the world due to its international popularity, straightforward rules, and accessibility. Sure, even though the rules of soccer are pretty straightforward, soccer does have a few rules that might be difficult to understand, such as the offside rule. According to WalesOnline, on average, about 43 percent of soccer viewers can not correctly identify when a soccer player is offside. This is due to the fact that so many factors play into whether or not a player is offside, and it gets confusing trying to keep track of them all. Even seasoned referees sometimes miss these calls! However, the majority of soccer rules are really easy to understand.
