Time period: The 2010 PBS rendition of Shakespeare’s Macbeth took the timeless play and placed it in what seems to be a Stalinist, Nazi-like setting. Once crowned, Macbeth poses in large profile portraits hung proudly along the walls of the famous banquet scene, these being reminiscent of the WWII, Cold-War propaganda styling of muted, patterned colors surrounding the powerful leaders of their respective movements. Also using weaponry and costuming to bolden the 1950’s era setting, such as the use of ak47's which were in service in the Soviet Union during the cold war from 1949 to 19781, and longer trench-coat like uniforms which were the preferred styling of the period.
