Abstract:
Eating at night, especially in a very late hour, it has become very common among teenagers and young adults these days. Many evidence and studies showed that this behavior has a very negative impact on health and people should consume less amounts of food they eat at night. The Social Cognitive Theory is the best intervention that could be used to help in finding a solution to this issue.
Introduction: “For years, we said a calorie is a calorie no matter when you consume it” (Dubost, (n.d.)). When studies and research were conducted about eating at night she said:” I don’t know if we can say that anymore, based on the emerging research. - Reciprocal Determination: Changing this behavior is depending on several factors, they are individual and social/environmental factors. Such as knowledge, emotions, role models, family, society, friends, and many other factors. Then they receive a response from environment around them, and they adjust their behavior again.
Conclusion and how to change this behavior into a healthier one
Night eating is an important problem that should be solved, especially the intake at night when the food has so many calories. Whoever is facing this problem should figure out why are they following this behavior, and then they should devise some strategies or solutions to help them in eating lighter amounts of food at night.
Some of these solutions are:
- Eating breakfast: studies has showed that eating big amount of food in breakfast will give them a since of control and reduce their cravings at night time.
