Science fiction in my opinion is often used as social commentary. Social commentary is defined as a spoken or written act of rebellion toward an individual or group; commentary on social issues of society. There are plenty of hidden messages from author. Take Susanne Collins novel The Hunger Games, for example.This fascinating story could work as a center piece on table hidden messages. A Commentary on society, an article written by Alexander Vassillidis on March 29, 2012 states most opinions that the author of The Hunger Games was trying to convey in the novel. Some of the aspects would be obsession with reality television and expectation of outer beauty. Veronica Roth, the author of Divergent along with many others has done the same. In an article titled The Divergent movie is Social Commentary for Simpletons ,written by Laura Hudson on March 24, 2014 states the reasons behind the Veronica Roth aspiring trilogy. The government much like the leaders of Erudite are somewhat threatened by non-conformity. They want all of us to be the same and to all be treated the same .
