Social identities play a significance role in the United States of America. Social identities have been in existence even in the past ages, and this also is the case in the United States of America. This paper will look at the significance if social identities in America’s past by looking at how United States treated and valued people historically, if American looked favorably in the social identities and the reason behind that and the paper will also look at why Americans believed that those social distinctions mattered.

In the America, the most significant social identities which have been there are race social identity and religion social identity. Historically, the people of the United States have had strong beliefs and norms in these social identities. For instance, looking at the race and ethnicity aspect of social identity in the United States, it has been there in ages. Race and ethnicity is a wide concept of social identity because there are a lot of people involved. There are categories such as the white people, the black Americans, the Asians among many others. One, they believed that these social identities helped them in creating a distinction among people which was believed that it was important in creating the wellness of people in the society. For instance, this was seen as a way of protecting specific groups of people in the society, which is also a part of the belief today. The distinction are not only seen to be important in the protection aspect, it also matters in providing the basis of how people understand each other in general and how to relate with each other to create a better society. when people understand each other it is easier to create a better and harmonious
