In today’s society, it is very common for people to get swept up in the world of social media. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram offer a platform for anyone to speak their mind, and with that, comes an immense variety of what people can post. In the past twenty years, social media interfering in the workplace was nonexistent, but in current times, it can change workers’ lives. In most states, it is legal for bosses to read their employees social media platforms, and fire them because of how they use it. This can include status updates about their company, inappropriate pictures, being logged onto their social media accounts at the wrong time, and many other mistakes. While social media is a fun way to check up on friends, it can also have life changing consequences and cost people their career, so it is important to be careful when posting online.
