Social media, an outlet for criticism, is prominent in today’s society. As celebrities post pictures, it takes two seconds for one to judge them and make hateful comments. Whether it be about body image or the methods for mothering their children, celebrities are criticized. Sasha Pieterse, for example, was criticized after gaining weight, but, little did people know, it was her medicine which caused her to gain weight. Social media makes it easier to judge without knowing what they have been through or if their advantages are equal to others. Money, although not the most important aspect of life, does affect some of the places and opportunities that one has. Personally, I want to go into journalism. Success in journalism is heavily based off the college one goes to and the opportunities that that college can offer. For one who was raised in a family with an abundance of money, attending Boston University for $65,000 a year may be simple. I am personally hoping to attend Michigan State University while applying for scholarships to lighten the financial load. Others may have to attend a community college before transferring to a university. Although it is more likely to benefit most from attending Boston University, the wealthy student should not judge anyone who did not have the same opportunity as he, nor should I judge anyone at a community college. It may initially seem as if some students do not care about their future as much as others, but this is rarely the case. There is a large chance that they did not have the same monetary advantage as others, but society does not know that. It is more important that people do not judge, for they will never know what opportunities each individual truly
