Social media is more beneficial than risky, as the positive effects can be good for more than just one person at a time. In “Teens Say Social Media Isn’t As Bad For Them As You Might Think” by Katie Notopoulos, it’s stated that “71% [of the students] said it helps them show their creative side. and 68% feel like they have people who support them through times,” (1). It shows that people actually support others they see on social media. From the article “This is Your Brain on Instagram” by Kelly McSweeney, it’s said “When you get a social media notification, your brain sends a chemical messenger called dopamine along a reward pathway, which makes you feel good” (6). Social media helps artists build an audience. From “Young Atlantic Artist on the Rise Through Social Media” by Tyler Rheaves, it’s stated that, “Hundreds of thousands of artists of all kinds use social media as a platform for their artistic creations & to build an audience & gain name recognition” (1). Artists who have been noticed or supported before get recognition & support through social media. Also, “... the positive remarks from fans & the ability to receive creative feedback from other artists from around the world far outweighed his [Abdullah Wais] negative experiences” (11). Thanks to the people who took time to support and post positive comments on his art, Abdullah was able to move past his negative experiences and keep on creating. However, there are those that argue that drama can sprout from social media. In the article "Social Media, What's Not to Like" by Alison Pearce Stevens it states, “In fact, people who visit social media sites to feel connected to friends may end up caught in online drama, or even cyber-bullying” (2). This shows that cyberbullying happens, increasing the amount of bullying but, for the most part, keeping it out of public
