Interviewing a Social Worker The social worker I interviewed, was the father of a co-worker. Cal Flachner, a very smart and experienced psychotherapist. Flachner has over 40 years of experience in the field. Flachner, workers with individuals, couples and groups who are seeking help with many issues including anxiety, depression, grief or loss, trauma or PTSD, self-esteem, identity, relationship, career and other areas of human concern. He also focuses on mental health topics such as, impulse control disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders.
During the interview, when I asked Flachner where he currently works, he responded saying that he has a private practice in Manhattan. Flachner, has a private practice office near the Flatiron Building, located at 928 Broadway Suite 807New York, New York 10010. My next question was: What cases do you usually work with? Flachner elaborated by explaining, he finds people who are extremely self-involved and narcissistic people challenging to work. I then asked what he liked and disliked the most of his career. Flachner responded, “I like helping people, I feel I’m effective in helping people. I also like my colleagues, I like having meetings with them and I enjoy learning with them. What I dislike the most is having to deal with insurance companies, to pay me my money. I don’t like insurance companies, for all kinds of reasons.” After Flachner expressed this, we both started to laugh. I have previously heard of professionals having a rough time dealing with certain insurance companies, that either take too long or simply make it so difficult. I found his sincere response humorous at that
