According to the U.S. state department ,600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year,of which 80%are female and half are children.The book Sold by Patricia McCormick is about a girl who thinks she is going to the city to work as a maid for her family,but when she gets there she gets sold and raped by many men.Life is a priceless,and another assigning us is irrelevant to what we think about ourselves. One person that value Lakshmi is Auntie Bimla sees Lakshmi as an item to buy and sell.After Lakshmi step father sells her to Auntie Bimla, she was mean to Lakshmi. Auntie Bimla threw rocks at her feet to keep her moving when they was walking.Then Auntie Bimla sold her to Uncle husband and Bimla sold her to him as much as how much as a water buffalo would be.Another person that values Lakshmi is Mumtaz she only valued lakshmi as money.Mumtaz wanted money and used Lakshmi to get it .mumtaz drugged Lakshmi for men to pay to rape her and Mumtaz to get money.The final person that values Lakshmi is Harish.Harish treated her so nice and kind .he asked her if she wanted him to teach her how to read the words in the storybook. “Do you want me to teach you how to read the words in the storybook”(163). I’m sometimes nice to him and sometimes I’m not. I value myself as a nice,kind person. I try to be so I value myself as that.I value myself is that I try to be a good person to other.The people around me makes me want to be a better person.
