As you know, the Balti nations consist of Estonia, Lativa, and Lithuania. These countries have pretty much been like a ball thrown back and forth from the Soviet Union and themselves. Thiey lost their independence in World War one, then they gained it bak at the end of World War one, only to lose it again to the Soviet union in 1944. They belonged to the Soviet Union for almost fifty years until the dossolution of the soviet Union in 1991. So, I guess you could say the Soviet Union had some impact on the Baltic Nations.
