“ Okay class your going to read a story about the Stamp Act, on page 347, any questions” Mr. Smith said. I moaned dreadfully. I flipped the pages, I finally made it to the right page.
My feet hurt as I walked a mile to town. I stopped by a rock and rubbed my feet to give them comfort. I had to keep going cause my folks really want some paper and tea for tonight. My throat was dry cause of the dust off the dirt road. I could finally see the glare of the lanterns. I also noticed a loud roar from town citizens . I jogged to see what the commotion was. Once I arrived people was crazy running around with torches and pitch forks. I stopped this woman that had brown hair and a blue and yellow dress on. “ whats going on” I asked the woman, “ The Stamp Act”.

I walked around just watching people burn scare crows that had picture of people on the them. I pried my way through the crowd. At once the whole crowed yelled “ WE WONT PAY!”. I said it once or twice but once I walked into the store I stopped. The air smelled like freshly brewed tea. The owner was sitting behind the counter reading a newspaper with his glasses with a fresh cup of tea. The steam from the tea into the nose and I craved from then on out. I went to the isle with tea. My eyes set on the box of freshly cut tea. I headed for the newspapers that are usually beside the counter. I walked fast so I could get out of here and get home before it gets dark. The rack of newspapers looked different. There was these stamps on the newspapers. It said “Stamp Act” in big bold letters. “what does this stamp mean on the newspapers” I asked with curiosity, “ you have to pay a tax on newspapers and stuff like that” he said , “how much is it ?” I asked, “ it depends on this size of it” he said, “ I have 30 cents, you think that will be enough ?” I asked, “ well that tea is 10 and the newspaper is 10 but with this new tax I don't think you pay it”.
