To the common overachieving student, there will always be one thing that you are looking to achieve; all going to have trouble with the college process and getting into the college of our choice without putting yourself in a maelstrom of debt. Luckily, there is a very easy process to accomplish your goals and get into the college of your dreams. The process starts in 8th grade when high school course selection begins. If you have set your goals high for college, no matter what your interests or your weaknesses are, sign up for as many of the highest level classes you can and as many as possible. It doesn’t matter what is actually taught in the class, it just matters that you take it. Colleges make it a point that they would rather see students “challenging” themselves then not. When the time comes where you actually have to take these classes, your teachers might give you lessons about putting learning the material over getting the good grades, but you shouldn’t listen to any of that banal hogwash. When it comes to getting into the college of your dreams, all you need to do is deliver the grades and chuck all other information except for specific, important information learned that will be discussed in the next section of this essay. Standardized tests, such as the ACT and SAT, are arguably more important than grades to colleges. A student who gets a very high score on the SAT or ACT with relatively low GPA is more likely to get into a college than a person with low SAT or ACT scores and a high GPA. My advice is that when the time comes, pour all effort into those standardized tests. A few 0’s for homework assignments is better than making any mistakes on those life-determining tests.
