Did you know that the creators of standardized testing weren’t experts in teaching? They were not geniuses like Albert Einstein. They were mediocre minds. One of the creators was Lewis Terman, who was a racist. Also, another creator of standardized testing was Edward Thorndike, who was an expert. *PAUSE* in Rats and Mazes. I’m pretty sure we don’t want rat experts creating tests for us. Do we?

A standardized test is an assessment that is administered and scored in a consistent manner. Some schools participate in these tests while others don’t. In California, our standardized test is called CAASPP.

SBAC testing is bad because it causes stress, it is inaccurate, and it’s a waste of time.

Stress can be very dangerous because it can lead to depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, etc. WebMD quotes, "Ongoing, chronic stress, however, can cause or exacerbate many serious health problems, including: Mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and personality disorders." Students get stressed during testing because they get worried that this test affects us in the future. These students get stressed because they do not want to fail and have a bad future.

Next, SBAC is bad because it is an inaccurate assessment. Students are creative and when they answer in a creative way, adults can see the creativity. But they don’t check the answer, machines do and they absolutely have no creativity. Also, students sometimes don’t care about SBAC so they do not try their best so the test scores are very inaccurate.

Lastly, SBAC is a waste of time. First of all, teachers have to teach students how to do the SBAC test instead of teaching kids about the subject. Also, when kids do the testing they waste hours of school time rather than learning a new thing in
