What do you think about standardized testing? I think that they are unnecessary. My class and I have been learning that standardized testing has pros and cons. Standardized testing is unnecessary to me because students spend too much time on these tests than anything else they work on in school. Standardized tests are harmful because students students spend too much time on them, some students get too stressed and some students are at a disadvantage. First, standardized testing is harmful because students spend too much time on these tests. When some students test or study they feel very stressed, and they feel a lot of pressure, like the amount of time they have to finish these tests isn’t a lot. Some students don’t know how to do some of what they are doing on the test, so it makes it even harder for them to focus or to finish the test. Also, some students feel stressed because of the teachers expectations. This shows how the standardized tests make students stressed.
Lastly, some students have a disadvantage. This disadvantage includes disabilities, if they speak a different language, etc. Some of the students that don’t speak the same language as everyone else may have a hard time reading the test, and answering. Some students may be blind, or have other disabilities that prevent them from taking these tests. Some students can’t/have a hard time reading. This proves how some of the students are at a disadvantage during these standardized tests.
You may think standardized testing is good, and here are some reasons you may think that. Some of the reasons would be that it helps teachers know what their students understand and don’t understand in class. Well there are many other ways to figure out what your students know. Some teachers could randomly ask a question in class to one of the students, just to see if they understand. This proves why standardized tests are
