Stanislavski As A Contradictory To The Art Of Theatre

273 Words2 Pages
Stanislavski was concerned with actors getting distracted by the audience while performing on stage. He needed a way for actors to perform without them actually blocking out the audience or pretending that they didn 't exist. He felt it would be contradictory to the art of theatre, because the audience was an important 'co-creator ' of the performance. Actors were having to be taught the basics again because they were so thrown off by the crowd of people. In order to avoid the actors losing concentration on stage, Stanislavski used a method where he would put the actor in the middle of a circle surrounded by people in order for the actor to focus all of their attention on the things in the circle rather than things outside of the circle.
