Since the last one-and-a-half month, I kept researching on the effects of video taking and internet in statistics of baseball. I started to look up for information on StatCast, the tool that is established from Major League Baseball and is accessed freely for the professional teams for further analysis. Along with the technologies developed by Sportsvision (FIELDf/x, HITf/x, and PITCHf/x), StatCast is currently used for further usage, and signifying the importance of statistics in baseball. Since many of the newly-found technologies are not perfect, they are having several hardships—meaning that they have a room to improve. How they can perfectly be in use can be predicted with the existing data and expert testimony. In addition, I had hard time searching how the real players use the existing data from new technologies. Actually, the information given by the StatCast is adapted in the actual broadcasts, which means that StatCast is preferred by the professional field. Since there is a lot of information that can be analyzed within this sub-topic, I think that further investigation on these two can be my actual research topic. In addition, I found out that there are actual players who took the advantage of using statistics for their performance and improved significantly. I realized how the real players improve from the professional level to another.
I am currently considering narrowing my topic down, because my advisor (Coach Jay) and I have noticed that the topic is too broad and has a lot of information to be researched. Nevertheless, I am researching upon my mind map and gathering information for the possible topics that I can write essay about. For the research question now, I am staying well, probably because the research question is about the overall aspects in baseball
