You watch your competition and fix their mistakes in your head, you smile and tell them they did wonderful. You stand there taking deep breaths, and go over the same words you’ve said a hundred times. You wait for your name which will come soon and when it does you take one last deep breath, smile, and take that step on to the stage never moving your eyes from the judges.
Starting Tuesday January 17, 2017 – TODAY - all students must park in the upper student parking lot. This includes late arrival and early dismissal students. We are having to do this because students have taken over the front lot and our visitors do not have anywhere to park. Growing up in a small town, I have gone to the Mississippi Valley Fair all my life. Nonetheless, the attractions compared to the Iowa State Fair are very poorly put together. The rides at the Iowa State fair are not only larger in size, but also generate a much smoother ride for the riders. There is even one day of the week during the fair when one can buy a wristband and ride all the rides you want. One of my favorite rides that my friend and I went on was probably the fireball.
Throughout “The Devil in the White City,” author Erik Larson uses contrasting descriptions to portray the sharp differences between the magnificence of the fair and the harsh and cruel reality of Chicago. The awe-ing descriptions of the fair and the dark interpretation of the streets of Chicago comments on the beautiful facade that the Gilded age produced. The temporary and shallow grandeur of the fair masked the poverty stricken city and gave a false sense of elegance to a city deep in despair. Larsons vivid descriptions of the beauty and elegance of the fair serves to reinforce the idea of its temporary masking of the city. He describes the fair as an art piece, a historian calling it, “no more the white city on the lake… it is dreamland.”
I don’t support Yes California, because even though the state has the burden of subsidizing other states and it is making it hard for it’s people, it is not ready for this kind of transition, at least not right now. Yes California can wait a few more years until they can at least make their own currency and be able to fund the UC without needing to rely on federal funds. Yes California’s campaign is something that should be aspired to in the future once they are truly ready for this
Rodeo is one of the oldest sports to exist in the United States; with the first rodeo being held in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1872. Baseball is the only sport older than it. Today, many people and organizations are trying to shut down rodeo because they claim it is cruel to animals. The sport of rodeo is not cruel to animals through the care and treatment of the livestock and performance horses.
Semi-state decides if your seasons ends or you make it to state. State is a huge thing in wrestling. It not like all sports because it 's you by yourself. You worked all season to get to that ticket round match and win. The week leading up to semi-state is very quiet.
