Statement of Faith
It was through the word of God that I came to my conversion experience. I believe that the Scriptures is(are) the divinely inspired word of God. The teaching of the scriptures is what led me to salvation. The Scripture indicate that “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” This text along with John 3:16 are the foundation of my Baptist faith. I believe and whole heartily accept Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I believe that Jesus Christ was crucified for the sins of humanity. I believe the scriptures as the word of God, is not only divinely inspired, but also infallible. I believe the bible is God’s word espousing the principles by which God will judge us. I believe, the word of God teaches about the final judgement, the last day, and Christ return. I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of the living God and the Holy Spirit. I believe that God is the Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in the biblical teaching that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the trinity. I also believe that the life of Christ is an offering from scripture of the love of God and is a guide toward eternal life. The life of Christ declared in scripture is the example that is set forth for the believer to follow. I believe the Church is the visible body of Christ, a community of baptized believers, committed to a covenant relationship with one another and with the Godhead. It was also the teaching ministry of the pastor that fortified my spirituality. In addition to those things, as a young adult I began reading the word of God more. It became a part of my daily life. It was also as a young adult that I experience the move of the Holy Spirit. As stated, I was baptized in 1980, at the age of twelve. I would not experience the move of the Holy Spirit until about ten years later. During this time, I had moved out on my own, I was also attending college and working. I had experienced several challenges during this time. I recall driving along the interstate listening to Douglas Miller’s “My Soul is Anchored” when I felt the love of God wash over me. It was a warm sensation and tears started gushing, so much so that I had to pull over and stop. At that moment, I felt the love of God as I had never felt
