Becoming A United States Air Force Pilot

Ever since I was five years old, I have been fascinated by aviation. After witnessing shuttle landings, touring the Kennedy Space Center, and attending various air shows, I developed a desire to become a pilot myself. In addition, I have always possessed a deep patriotism for my country and a respect for all veterans. I believe that the only way to repay my country and the veterans who have served before me is to serve in the military myself. As a result, I decided to pursue a career as a United States Air Force pilot. In order to accomplish this goal, individuals must obtain a Bachelor’s degree and undergo officer training in addition to many other requirements (“Qualifications Summary,” n.d.). The Missouri University of Science and Technology is the perfect place to reach these short-term goals. …show more content…

Students in this major go on to “[fly] any type of aircraft; including jet fighters and giant bombers” (“Aerospace Engineering,” n.d.). The “3 Missouri S&T grads [who] have served as astronauts” indicate the success of this program (“Aerospace Engineering,” n.d.). With this said, it takes determination to successfully complete this rigid program. I have prepared myself to accomplish this short-term goal by taking challenging honors and college courses throughout my high school career. This has given me the work ethic necessary for the Missouri University of Science and Technology’s aerospace engineering
